GERMAN OPEN 2016

Central had 4 players at the recent German Open G1 Championships and produced some incredible performances to bring home 4 silver medals.

Lauren McKinlay was unlucky being drawn against a world class German opponent in her first match. It couldn’t have been any closer, she went out on superiority after there was no score in the golden point round.

Neve Hogg, in her first international competition, made it through to the final of the Cadet -29kg division. A great achievement which promises much for the future.

Jordyn Smith continued her fantastic start to her junior career with yet another medal. She added the German Open Silver to her Presidents Cup Bronze and Dutch Open Silver, all won within the last few weeks!

Hassan Haider had the best day of his career so far. In his first year as a senior player he recently reached the quarter final of the Dutch Open. He surpassed that in German by having 5 matches and coming away with a hard earned, top-class silver. On his way to the final Hassan defeated the world ranked number 4 from Ireland before eventually losing out to the world no.2 from Mexico. We now wait to see if Hassan has done enough to be selected for the senior European Championships.

Another proud day for Central Academy. Three medals from four players at such a high level event is an incredible result for the team. Well done guys!
