Club Update

TRAINING IN KOREA

We currently have two of our black belt girls, Jordyn Smith and Erin Shaw, training with the Korean National team in Seoul, Korea.  The girls left on Monday with the GB Development Squad and will be attending an intensive training camp for 10 days.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the girls and they will be bringing a wealth of experience back to the club.  We wish them the best of luck for the trip.

PARENTS CLASS

This Sunday (11th Feb) we are running a one off class for parents in aid of Central Academy Club Funds.  The class will be relaxed and fun - designed for adults who have not tried taekwondo before.
Come along for a bit of flexibility, fitness and fun and help support our club funds.  The session is from 10am to 11am at Carronshore and the training fee is £5.00 (all proceeds to club funds).

KUP GRADING

This month’s grading takes place at Carronshore on Sat 17th Feb starting at 10am.  Deadline for application forms is Thursday 15th Feb.

INTERNATIONALS

On Sunday 25th Feb we have Natasha Wilson, Tegan O’May and Eilidh Burke competing for the GB Poomsae Squad at the German Open Poomsae Championships in Hamburg.
Two weeks later (10th & 11th Mar) Jordyn Smith, Erin Shaw, Lauren McKinley and Neve Hogg are all representing Central at the Dutch Open Championships in Eindhoven.
All the girls are training hard for these huge international events.  Good luck girls!

COACHING COURSE

Over the past couple of years I have had the role of British Taekwondo Tutor and I have been delivering the Level 2 Coach Education Course around the UK.  This course is currently on hold as it is being restructured.  We have a number of students at Central who have expressed an interest in coaching and some who regularly come along to classes to help coach the junior grades.  With this in mind I am planning to run a shortened version of the Level 2 Coaching Course at Carronshore on Sunday 4th March from 1pm to 5pm.  There will be no recognised qualification for attending the course, as it not a British Taekwondo event.  There will be no fee for attending.  Anyone wishing to develop their coaching skills should ask Master Angie for an application form.  Deadline for applications is Thursday 1st March.

EASTER CAMP

Dates have been set for this year’s Easter Camp.  We will have 2 days of TKD games, competitions, fitness and fun.  The camp is at Carronshore on Wed 11th and Fri 13th April.  Full details will be available soon.

25TH ANNIVERSARY

Central Taekwondo Academy was established in November 1993 - we are 25 years old this year!  We are planning a few things to celebrate this tremendous achievement over the course of this year.  This will culminate with our 25th Anniversary Dinner at the Millennium Suite, Beancross on Friday 16th Nov 2018.  We have some very special guests and great entertainment lined up.  More details will be available soon.  Make sure you save the date - it will be a night not to be missed!
