TEN TIMES NATIONAL CHAMPION

At the British National Poomsae Championships held at Worcester University Arena on 30th November 2019, Central Academy’s Master Angie Bailey 5th Dan, became Individual A Class British Champion for the 10th Year in a row!
Master Angie won her first title in 2010 and has claimed the top spot in her category ever since.

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS

Central had a team of 10 players at the National Championships in Manchester on 9th & 10th November 2019.
 
Under the guidance of coaches Darren Smith, Asia Bailey and Shona Smith, the team produced excellent results.

UTA DAN GRADING

Central Academy had 21 successful candidates at the 64th UTA Dan Grading on Saturday 28th September.
We have added six more students to our Black Belt ranks, making a total of 232 Black Belts in our 26 year history.

SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019

Central Academy once again had a very successful Scottish Championships.  Over 50 members of the club were involved!  Players, coaches, officials, judges and volunteers all played their part in a very successful event.

GB Development Athlete of the Year 2019

Neve has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Junior European Championships 2019, to be held in Spain in October.
Neve already has two G1 Gold Medals to her name this year.  She won both the Slovenia Open and the Dutch Open.

GB TAEKWONDO SEMINAR

On Saturday 11th May Central Academy hosted a fantastic seminar with the President of British Taekwondo and Olympic medalist Sarah Stevenson MBE and GB Taekwondo Olympic Team Coach Steve Jennings.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 15 strong squad for the World Championships has been announced and we are proud to say that two of the 15 players are from Central Academy.  Jordyn Smith -46kg and Hassan Haider -58kg, will both compete on the first day - 15th May 2019.  Everyone at Central is very proud of our two full time athletes and wish them every luck in their quest to be Senior World Champions!

NEVE HOGG

Neve Hogg, 14 from Larbert, has made an incredible start to the year and is following in Jordyn’s footsteps.  She travelled to Ljubljana for the Slovenia Open, where she was representing the GB Development Squad.  It was a fantastic event for Neve!

CLUB OF THE YEAR

At the recent Falkirk Council Sports Awards, Central Taekwondo Academy was awarded the Club of the Year!
We were up against every other sports club in the Falkirk Council area - football, basketball, gymnastics, swimming and athletics clubs were all nominated.

DAN GRADING

Three more members of Central Academy attained their Black Belt at the UTA Dan Grading held in Belfast on Sat 30th March 2019.
Rowan Burke and Katie Smyth were awarded 1st Poom and Laura Perrow 1st Dan.  Lynsey Burke was promoted to 2nd Dan.
 

LANARKSHIRE OPEN JAN 2019

Fantastic results from Team Central at the recent Lanarkshire Open in Wishaw.
 
The poomsae team finished with the overall 2nd place trophy and the kyorugi team came in 4th.
 
Well done to all those that took part - many for the first time.  Great experience for all.
