Central had a team of eight players competing at the British Taekwondo National Championships held at The Copperbox Arena in London's Olympic Park on Sunday 7th November. The team was expertly lead by Coach Darren Smith, who was very impressed with the professionalism and great performances put in by the entire team.
Neve Hogg became British Champion in the JF -55kg division. Max Cartwright gained a silver medal after three tough matches. There were bronze medals for Erin Shaw, fighting in the senior female category for the first time, Neve’s brother Alex Hogg and Coach Darren’s daughter Teigan Smith, who almost made the final against a much more experienced opponent. Lucas Ballantyne, Joe Easton and Zack Ross all just missed out on the medals after losing in the quarter finals. All the medallists have been invited to join the British Taekwondo Sport Performance Squad for 2022.
Overall a great day for team Central with lots of experience gained. Congratulations to the whole team, who are now looking forward to getting back on the mats in the new year.
