Central had a small but successful team at the British Taekwondo National Poomsae championships over the weekend of 12th & 13th November 2022 held at Worcester University Arena.
Natasha Wilson excelled once again becoming Individual National Champion for the 9th year running! She took Gold in the Under 30 Female category amongst a field of 32 competitors from all over the UK. Natasha also won Gold in Female Team and Silver in U30 Pairs. Congratulations on another fantastic championship Natasha.
Peter Sellwood, who won a bronze medal in his first international in Portugal the previous weekend, won Silver in his individuals and Bronze in Pairs. Peter is quickly establishing himself as a major contender in his category and showing he is a great prospect for the future.
Sister and brother Khawlah & Uraifaan Nazeerkhan, were taking part in their first ever poomsae competition. Together they put on an excellent performance to win a K2 Pairs Bronze, beating a large number of more senior grades in the process. Khawlah also excelled in individuals going though in first place from 31 players in her division. It was a daunting challenge having the national championships as their first ever event but they showed how great their potential is for the future.
Bethany Dewar got off to a flying start in the Dan U17 division coming 8th from 32 competitors in the first round of a very strong category. Unfortunately she just missed out on the final. Younger brother Thomas put in a strong performance too and gained more invaluable experience in the Peewee Boys division.
Well done team. You all did us proud!
