entral Academy elite players Tegan O’May and Jordyn Smith will represent the UK at the Junior European Championships in Cyprus (2nd to 5th Nov 2017).
The girls were selected after undergoing a rigorous selection process, which has included training at the National Academy in Manchester alongside taekwondo superstars, such as Jade Jones (twice Olympic Champion) and Bianca Walkden (World Champion). Jordyn, 16 from Carronshore, is one of the most experienced taekwondo athletes around! She is a former Cadet European Champion and this will be her 6th time representing her country at a major championships. Tegan, 15 from Maddiston, has also represented Team GB at the Cadet Euros. Both girls will be hoping their experience will help them to be amongst the medals at this prestigious event. For the first time juniors will earn ranking points toward future Olympic selection, so there is a lot at stake.
The girls were presented with some financial support from Central’s Club Funds to help with the costs of training equipment and traveling etc.
GOOD LUCK FROM EVERYONE AT CENTRAL ACADEMY!
