More fantastic news for Team Central! No less than three of our cadet female stars have been selected to represent Great Britain at the Cadet European Championships, to be held in France at the beginning of July 2015. It is an incredible achievement for the club - to have three players from one club amongst the 15 strong team.
Jordyn Smith has been selected at -33kg. She has had a great start to the year, taking both the Dutch and Spanish Open titles. Jordyn fought at the last Cadet Euros in Romania in 2013 and reached the quarter finals of the 1st World Cadet Championships held last year in Azerbaijan. She has only just turned 14 but has a wealth of experience behind her and will travel to France as one of the favourites to take the European title.
Tegan O'May and Lauren McKinlay make their debut for the GB Team, selected at -37kg and -51kg respectively. Both girls are new to these weight divisions but both proved their worth with impressive Bronze Medals at the recent Dutch Open. They were selected by GB Taekwondo for the Cadet Development Squad only a few months ago and since then they have gone from strength to strength. The trip to France will be an amazing developmental opportunity for both girls and no doubt many more major championships will come their way with their continued hard work.
At Central Academy we are all very proud of our GB Cadet Superstars and we wish them the very best of luck with their preparations.
As the GB Cadet Team is self funded Central Academy are embarking on a fund-raising mission to help the girls cover the costs of attending the championships. If anyone is interesting in sponsoring the girls or helping out in anyway please get it touch.
